I came to real estate in 1986, following careers in journalism and public relations. Working out of Mclean, my wife, Pat, and I started with Mount Vernon Realty part-time while completing our careers at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. We joined Samson in 2016.
Our areas of specialty include first-time buyers, investors, foreign buyers and sellers, seniors, and referrals. We represent our clients directly — we provide personal attention ourselves, anticipating our clients’ needs and providing solid, honest advice. Our extensive international experience has been invaluable in building lasting rapport with people of many nations.
We are licensed in Virginia, Maryland and the District of Columbia, but most of our transactions are in Virginia. We have put our money where our interests are, and own a number of investment properties.
A native of Fitzgerald, Georgia, I served for four years with the U.S. Air Force in Texas, Alaska and North Carolina, then graduated with a B.S. degree in journalism from the University of Tennessee and later a M.S. degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism in New York. My employers have included The Associated Press , Radio Free Europe, and NBC News. My transportation interests led me to become Director of Public Information for AMTRAK. I later was News Director of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and Director of Public Liaison for the U.S. Information Service. I also served as public affairs officer for the Fogarty International Center, the international division of the National Institutes of Health.
My areas of special interest include tennis, travel (especially cruises), food and wine, and music. My wife and I have two grown children: James, 43, who lives in Everett, Washington, and Marty, 41, who lives with her husband, David Dietrich, and their young son Brooks in Brentwood, California.
