Seth Rivard

seth@myateamagent.com

I have over 16 years of land development experience working in the public sector as a land use planner, Director of Community Development, and a Town Manager. Recently, I have started providing private land use consulting and I assist developers, landowners, and citizens obtain zoning and other entitlements for their projects. This includes zoning and subdivision development standards, requesting variances from the strict standards of the ordinances and presenting on behalf of my clients at public meetings.

While employed at Jefferson County, WV, I was the County Planner for 5 years and at the City of Charles Town, WV, I was the Director of Community Development for 5 years. I have had the opportunity to have been directly involved in economic development, revitalization activities, and land development projects from concept to implementation. Coordinating, encouraging, and promoting a prospective project has been a vital component of economic activity. Whether a development of more than 500 residential units or a distribution center over 100,000 square feet, I have reviewed development plans and worked with applicants to ensure successful approvals. In the communities I have been employed in, I encouraged and promoted the historic downtown areas as the economic and fundamental identity of the community, a vibrant location for employment, living, and entertainment.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree, major in history and minor in political science with a teaching certificate and a Master’s Degree of Public Administration with a concentration in urban planning. I grew up in a family that was in the construction business. I spent many weekends and several summers involved in construction activities. Professionally, I oversaw the building inspection department at Charles Town. For over 8 years I had owned my own two-unit rental property.

My career experience has been deeply associated with real estate, making the shift to being a realtor is seamless transition.
